2018 Siblings School Smackdown

Wednesday saw the 2018 Siblings School Smackdown kick off in dramatic style. After a lengthy build up the stage was set for what was to be called the “Thrilla at Villa."

A group of about 30 year 13’s made their away across to Villa Maria for a ‘friendly' game of netball, and boy, were we warmly welcomed! A gym packed to the rafters of Villa students screaming their heads off made for a very loud and proud game. 

STC were slow out of the blocks going down 3 goals early in the piece. Some slick ball movement and execution at the goal closed this gap up, and from there, the lead was traded throughout the rest of the match. It came down to the 4th quarter where we were met with a Villa team stacked full of reps. The lads dug deep and came agonisingly close to the upset of the century, if it weren’t for a buzzer beater by Villa, ending the game at 12-11 in favour of our sister school. 

Overall, a great game played in great spirit. Big thanks to Villa Maria for hosting and supplying the ‘referees.'
