Cricket

Tim Muir —

Exciting times ahead for cricket in the school. We have over 100 cricketers applying their trade now and some real talent sprinkled throughout the grades. With such growth in the game it is important the cricket now focuses on growing the love of the sport. What this means is a less is more approach and having quality coaching to guide our boys.

The creation of a new parent committee that are driving the sport and helping to lift standards has been nothing short of a miracle for the sport. We are so lucky to have such passionate parents within our community. Already their has been an impact with a sharpen up of the gear shed, a new covers trolley, brand new grass practise facilities and a bowling machine as well. Not to forget new gear to assist new boys into the game who may have been hesitant in the past.

We have acknowledge that coaching is key to the growth of our boys so we have starting in term 4 a full time junior coach to assist in the junior programme.

The 1st 11 are a special bunch of boys who a driven by a strong culture and the want to get better each week. We lose three key players at the end of this year that have left their mark on the sport in the school and we look forward to following their development in the future.

Exciting times ahead for cricket.
