Pink Shirt Day

Stephen Kennedy —

Today we joined the Pink Shirt Day movement!

This week is Anti-Bullying Week in New Zealand and today we joined the movement to stop bullying and spread kindness.

Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 after a peer was student for wearing a pink shirt. His suicide triggered an international response of advocacy (speaking for those who can’t) and charity (raising money) to support the Mental Health Foundation.

STCC is a community driven by the Gospel. Jesus is our example of hope, love and respect. He helped people feel safe, valued and respected.

Thanks to all those who wore pink! Don’t forget why we did it.

The students of Year 12 Justice and Peace collected the money: we raised $343.60.

Huge thanks to Dominic Anisy, Mr Leader, Mr Reddy and Mr Kennedy for working behind the scenes.

If you feel you are being bullied at school please tell a big brother or your mentoring teacher. We can’t help if we don’t know what’s wrong.

Everyone has the right be feel safe and happy going to school, at school, and home from school.

If you see someone being bullied then step in be a justice maker.
