Joyce - Dean's Report

JOYCE – Dean’s Report

A rebuilding year for Joyce this year. The Raging Bulls were in the running at each event never finishing last but overall not gaining enough points to avoid the wooden spoon. With smaller numbers than the other houses and some unfortunate injuries to some big name athletes we did well to avoid embarrassment at the Athletics day and even won all but one of the age group relay events.

Swimming sports was less successful but we still managed to win the chant competition. The strong voices came out again during STC Character week where we were clear winners of the singing competition scoring a perfect 20 out of 20 from the judges. The angelic sounds were backed up by some impressive dance moves from our new recruits the Tuu'u brothers.

Other events this year included a World Cup Joyce Touch competition won by Ireland (JOAA), Special Character week and the junior activity week where our year 10 men organised some outstanding activities based around the school's values. The year 10's made huge improvements this year as part of the Rite Journey programme culminating in the end of year camp. The progress in terms of maturity and resilience from this group was noticed by staff across the school.

Next year expect to see the red wave back in action as the Raging Bulls stampede once more.
