Rite Journey Programme - The Departure

Tom Tennent —

On the 27th December, our Year 10’s took part in their final step of the Rite Journey Programme – “The Departure.” The Year 10 boys had an early start, arriving to school shortly after 7am with their fathers/male mentors at their side.

At 7.30am, our friends at the HIIT SQUAD ran a fitness session, with both the older and younger lads. This was a great way to enjoy a beautiful morning and start the day off by working up a good sweat. Following this everyone was ushered into the hall to enjoy some breakfast and listen to our guest speaker.

Dan Sharples (friend of some of the STC staff) came and spoke to the boys about his battle with cancer, as just a 26 year old, over the past year. He spoke of overcoming bad days, showing resilience and some of the key tools that will help us get through the tough times. The boys and parents really engaged in the message, with many asking follow-up questions.

From here the dads/mentors took off and the students boarded buses, to go and enjoy the rest of the day at Spencer Park.

A massive thanks to the HIIT SQUAD, Dan Sharples and all the staff for making it possible. We wish these boys all the best for their holidays and journey into the senior school.
