Although the National Secondary schools tournament was cancelled for the third year in succession there were a number of Highlights for St Thomas of Canterbury Rugby League, most recently when student met Master in the Canterbury Rugby League Premier Grandfinal, with Eru Jackson Keelan facing off against Mr Auimatagi.

Our Y9 & 10 Nines team who won the Canterbury Secondary School. The Saints finished the day unbeaten in four games playing some great footy on their way to winning the trophy. Our Senior side were unlucky to lose the final against a tough Linwood side

Ouar 7&8 boys placed 3rd equal at the Canterbury Rugby League Tournament, despite being undefeated. We drew against the eventual winner Chisnalwood in pool play but came 2nd on points for and against. Then drew with Casebrook in the playoff for third. great coaching from Jack Coulthard and Cooper Te Hau

A number of STCC students were also guest players for other provinces at the South Island Tournament Levi Maluafit (WC), Austin Maxwell Smith (Otago), Toby Tapp, Kaya Wiparata(WC) and Norton McDonald(Southland)

U18 Scorpions

Ngaheke Nepata, Jake Hayward, Eruera Keelan-Jackson, Dallas Hurrell-Jones, Kalib Clarkson, Bishop Neal, Neihana Mata’afa and Hunter Tamaraki represented Waitaha at the New Zealand Maori Rugby League Teina Tournament.

Donte Tahuhu-Wilson was selected in the NZ Maori Rugby League 13’s Tournament Team.

Cooper Te Hau was selected for the National U18 Maori Whatukura Development Camp.

Overseas old boys Felix Faatili was selected for Queensland 18s, Josiah Neli Victoria schoolboys 17s and Jeremiah Neli for Victoria 15s.

Zinzan Martin and Caius Faatili are playing for the Townsville Blackhawks and Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the the Queensland under 21 competition and look to have an exciting time ahead in the play offs with Seagulls Finishing 1st and the Blackhawks second Jordan Riki continued to impress for The Brisbane Broncos and The Maori All Stars
