Dear Parents,

I would love to invite you to the college on Thursday the 21st of March to meet with your son's mentor teacher, to discuss the progress your son has made here at St Thomas’ for the start of the year. This is a great opportunity to come in and talk about the goals your son has set themselves this year around academic achievement, as well as other contributions to the school. It is also an ideal opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your son's learning and how things may work here at the college. While the mentor teacher may not teach your son directly, they are responsible for tracking the academic and personal well-being of your son, and are available to discuss your son's overall approach to learning here at St Thomas’.

Our mentor teachers have your son's best learning interests in mind and check in with them every day to ensure their well-being is being looked after,  and that relationships are being built to ensure your son has the best possible opportunities here at the college. This meeting also builds the foundations for the year to ensure there is a strong working relationship between school and home.

Over the next week your son's mentor teacher will email you giving you some more details about their availability on the day.

The school is closed for instruction that day, meaning that your son is only required here at school during your mentor interview (in full school uniform). Staff will be onsite during school hours and many staff available before or after school hours to accommodate your availability to come in to meet. If, for some reason, you are unable to come in during that day, your son's mentor teacher will make an alternative time to catch up that week.

If you have any questions please contact your son's mentor teacher, and as I explained above, the mentor teacher will be in touch soon to give you more details about meeting with them on the 21st of March.
