Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It has been fantastic to welcome our students back on site this week. To see them reconnect with their teachers and friends highlight the very human nature of school life. As a teaching staff we have all been very impressed with the progress of our students in a remote learning environment - this demonstrates how far we have come as a community in our use of technology and our ability to be agile and innovative in the many different situations we find ourselves in.

I wanted to acknowledge the manner in which our staff taught and led our students throughout the lockdown. I believe we were able to create such a positive learning environment remotely off the back of strong teacher student relationships. This is a massive emphasis of our day to day interactions in educating hearts here at St Thomas'.

A reminder that during Alert Level 2, students are to be dropped off and picked up offsite - please do not come onsite.

Please make sure all students bring a drink bottle to school each day, as our school drinking taps are not in use during Alert Level 2.

Below is a list of events that, at this stage, are still taking place this term;

Week 8 – Te wiki o te reo Maori

Wednesday 22 September:

Option Choice Expo P5&6

Wednesday 29 September:

HPV vaccinations

Friday 1 October:

Year 10 Charity Fun Run

Year 13 Bio Trip

Last Day of Term 3

Finally I wanted to thank our parent community, I know how difficult it is to be working in lockdown and also having to be an active educator in the house at the same time. The role you played in supporting our teaching staff and your sons led to a great outcome for our students.

I look forward to reconnecting with you all throughout the rest of this term and into Term 4.

Kind Regards,

Steve Hart
