Year 11 Retreats

Stephen Kennedy —

What a week! The Year 11's were on retreat this week with the Christchurch Diocese Mission Team.

We've been exploring the concept of Light in terms of making decisions and God's invitation to greatness.

We ate lollies, played games and shared our ideas. The Mission team are eight young Catholics who are working for the diocese this year to run fun parties, camps and retreats. Find them on facebook:  Mission Team. The team leader is STCC old boy, Mr Peter Price.  Huge thanks to Fr Sam from OLV Parish who came to chat and enabled us to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Pictured here are 3 of the activities...

1. The guys demonstrated the symbol of a table: the table is held up by 4 strong legs: Sacraments, Service, Prayer and Friends.

2. We did a team challenge to get through an imaginary minefield.

3. Damien helped lead a collaboration around our understanding of light and dark. It says in the New Testament: "Live like a child in the light", and, "A true light gives light to the world."
