RIHB

Hamish Barclay —

This year was another standout for the men of RIHB. We saw our whānau grow with Ben, Connor, Tomairangi and Cohen joining us while we were all proud to have Kobe named Rice Kaitiaki for 2021. Our ‘Wall of Achievement’ showed the talent and accolades that the men were able to display, from Josh and Alex’s academic excellence and athletics success, Liams touch representation to Hunter’s rugby league coaching and Henry’s mean scooter skills.

Throughout the year we made Milo Monday’s as a way to start the week and make sure we were set up for whatever was in store for us. During this time we made sure we set goals and reflected on how we could achieve them and supported each other during times like lockdown.

During special character week again the men came together. During the Mentoring Challenge we became super-competitive while our $2 Rice was a hit again. As always the lads stepped up during the singing and haka competitions to support Kobe.

Its always good to see the young students come into RIHB and grow into the men they become by Year 13. Last year we said goodbye to Ta’i and Tom and this year Kobe leaves us after 5 years. We wish you all the best and stay in touch.
