BASKETBALL ANNOUNCEMENT - STC's 1st New Zealand Player!!!!!!

Massive congratulations to Yr 9 student Hunter Adam for his selection in the New Zealand U16 Basketball team.

Hunter started training camp in Auckland then left to Papua New Guinea on the 1st December. The tournament was in Port Moresby. Hunter's team will look to qualify for the Asia qualifiers next year to attempt to qualify for the World Champs in 2019.

Hunter was recognized at U15 Nationals this year where his Canterbury team came 2nd in New Zealand, Hunter earning All-Star 5 honors as well as being called into the New Zealand U16 squad.

We as an STC community wish Hunter the best of luck and look forward to the upcoming 2019 season!

Results:

Great first up start for the New Zealand U15 Basketball team by beating Guam 131-41. With STC's very own Hunter Adam leading all scorers with 23.

New Zealand U15 basketball team had two comfortable wins yesterday beating home nation Papua New Guinea, putting up an impressive 163-51. Also beating Fiji with an amazing defensive effort 105-27. STCs Hunter Adam continues to gain valuable minutes as the only bottom age player in the squad.

New Zealand U15 basketball team had another two tough wins. Beating Australia in pool play by 2 points and comfortably putting Samoa away by just under 40 points.

Awesome effort put up by New Zealand U15 team in the final, unfortunately losing by 3 points, but in doing so, have qualified for next years World Cup!
Great tournament and great experience for Yr 9 student Hunter Adam. STC is incredibly proud of you and the team.
