Service in year 13 Religion

Year 13 Service with Biggsie

As part of year 13 RE classes the year 13 boys are moved amoung three staff, two completing achievement standards and one with Biggsie heading out into the community working with a number of schools and community groups.

The boys visit Middlepark Rest Home and play bowls and discuss their lives and adventures with the clients there. Some head to AvonHead School, OLV or Riccarton Primary and work and play with the students there in cultural activities, reading programmes or just "play". Another visit is to Rannerdale Rest Home for retired veterans. Here we play pool, "chew the fat" and even take part in Friday singing sessions. The last place we get the opportunity to visit is Idea Services where we take part in art productions, cultural events and meeting with people who we even invite into our school for their WOW Events - check out the photos of what we get up to.

We invite the clients from many Christchurch day-bases into our hall and take part in their presentations of culture, music, cooking and singing skills. A huge experience for our boys and a wonderful addition to the STC calendar.

The STC boys are energetic, keen to talk and very appreciative of assisting where they can in all parts of the community. Their impact may seem small to them but changes lives and puts many smiles on many faces.

Cheers Biggsie
