YEAR 9 CAMP

Jack Mayo —

Two successful Year 9 camps held at Orton Bradley Park.

The boys enjoyed various water activities, team bonding challenges, a challenging hike up the Bridal Path and learning the basics of the outdoors with their brothers.

There were many challenges that came with this camp that really tested the boys. One of the biggest was constructing their own shelters and sleeping in them for a night.

Rumors of possums wreaked havoc throughout the boys as we all walked over to the campsite. Mr Ben Rapson chose to sleep a bit more luxurious, bringing a self-inflating, queen-sized air mattress, which the boys carried across to the camp site for him.

Year 9 Camp, rugby league and bullrush are two activities that always go down a treat with the boys. With some questionable team matchups, there were some very big hits and great runs.

The camp wrapped up with a busload of sleepy teenagers eager to get home to their whanau. This was my first camp as a teacher as opposed to a student and it was great, cheers to Mr Lange and the team for organizing such a great event for the lads.
