Nathan Flannery - NZ Quad

Congratulations to old boy Nathen Flannery who has been named in the rowing NZ quad for the world championships.

A huge achievement from a young man who has over come huge odds, from injury to illness to fight his way back to he top.

He will row with NZ legend Mahe Drysdale in the quad.

Nathan started his rowing career with St Thomas and also has a world under 23 and Maadi Gold medal to his name.
We wish him all the best....

2018 sees Nathan return to the men's quad with Lewis Hollows, Cameron Crampton, and new-comer Jordan Parry. The crew will compete at World Cup II and III before returning to New Zealand ahead of the 2018 World Rowing Champs.

In 2017 Nathan competed in the men's quadruple sculls along with Lewis Hollows, Cameron Crampton, and Giacomo Thomas. The crew competed at World Cup II and III, Henley Royal Regatta, and the 2017 World Rowing Champs.

In 2016 Nathan Flannery competed in the men's quad at the Final Qualification regatta in Lucerne in May with the hope of qualifying for the Rio Olympic Games. The crew finished third, one place outside of qualification but late removal of the already-qualified Russian men's quad allowed entry for the New Zealanders. Despite the late call up and interrupted training the crew finished fourth in the B Final.

Nathan first represented New Zealand in 2010 at the Junior World Rowing Championships in the men's quad, in 2011 he moved into the under-23 team where he raced in the men's quad. In 2012 Flannery teamed up with Hayden Cohen in the double scull at the U23 World Rowing Championships and took away the gold.

In 2013 he moved into the elite team in the men's quad where they won silver at the first World Cup of 2013 in Sydney.
