Danial Kahura: Leading Sports Coordinator at STC

Who is this Bald Eagle you’ve been seeing around St Thomas of Canterbury? Have you seen this person around the school? Do you know who he is or what he is doing here? Well, this man happens to be my mentor teacher, and strength and conditioning coach, so I know this man quite well. This man happens to be the Great Mr. Daniel Kahua. He’s one of St Thomas of Canterbury’s very own finest sports coordinators. Mr. Daniel Kahura is one of the current leading sports coordinators at St Thomas’ alongside Alex Coulthard and Joe Hammond.

So why did Daniel choose this line of work and why did he come back to the College?

Well … he didn’t know going out of school was what he was going to do with his life, but he knew he always had a passion for high-performance sport and health. One thing led to the next then Daniel is now back at his old stomping grounds of St Thomas leading the school sports coordinators, also taking the First 15 and Rowers for strength and conditioning on the side for 2021.

Most of you probably didn’t know that Mr. Kahura started attending St Thomas’ in 2004 and finish in 2011, he finished school about 4 years before I Start school at St Thomas of Canterbury College in 2015. Dk was also a part of The Great Marlow House. Dk was one of the people who started the Marlow House Swimming evolution where we have been undefeated for 12 years now. And I’ve just finished my last one for the 12th year running for Marlow.

In the interview, I also asked what his plans for the future would be was there something else out there he wanted to be, or if he had any future goals now and coming out of school in 2011. This question was hard for Dk to answer. He then responded that he said that he’s always loved his passion for health and sports, so he decided to get his degree in sports on strengths and conditioning. He then was approached by the school to see if he was interested in becoming a school sports coordinator with Nev Brooker alongside him, with coaching on the side. About 5 years later he's now leading the sports coordinators here at St Thomas’ as an old boy of the college.

As looking towards the future from now would have to be that he would stay in the school and take over Daniel O’Brian roll here at the college as hew is our head of sports, health, and safety. That’s why Dk said that his goals are going to be for him in this college still. But he's still a young man with a few skills and dedication so I believe that he could be anywhere, in the future as anything could pop up and more opportunity could come around for him elsewhere but until then he's a proud st Thomas’s old boy, returned to the college to give back to the students of the St Thomas’ of Canterbury college today, like myself.

With this profile being done I encourage all our boys if you’re ever feeling like you want to take your sports performance to the next level and or just want to live a better life healthier. I would have to suggest this man right here as I believe there is no one better than him.
