0800 Hungry

Yvonne Shields —

Year 9 Business

Year 9 Business are looking at the UN Global Goals and the focus is poverty and hunger. The class had Kerry and Nick Berryman from 0800 Hungry come and talk to them.

0800 Hungry is a Christchurch based charity that was started on 7th November 2007. Each week they deliver 250 food parcels in Christchurch. Since the organisation started, they have delivered 230,000 parcels of food.

This food has a total value of $33 million. Poverty, or the need for food parcels, is getting worse and the class were encouraged to use our Catholic Social Justice teaching and Edmund Rice teaching to give back or help the poor.
