The U14 STC Rugby team won 32-21 against Shirley Boys' High School to become the U14 Division 1 champions. STC Under 14’s are Champions.

The final whistle blew and the supporters all ran on to celebrate not only a great match but a great team. The St Thomas under 14 team created some history on Saturday winning the Under 14, Division 1 competition. I say history because we have not won that competition since Mr Taylor could remember (which is a long time).

What a match it was. Shirley Boys’ High School fired the first shot by scoring almost immediately, however it didn’t take long before the Strong STC team fired back through player of the year Montel Peppard. With the kick converted by a very precise Brodie Gason, it put STC in front and that is how it stayed for the reminder of the match.

STC ran out the winners 32 – 21 in a hard fought match. Special mention goes to Montel Peppard, clearly the best player in the competition scoring near on 40 tries for the season and touching down 3 times in the final. Brodie Gason put on one of the better kicking performances you will see from an under 14 player kicking 6 – 7 with only one being from in front. He also made some very calm decisions under pressure as captain.

I would also like to say what a great bunch of lads these boys are. If this team is the future of the school’s rugby, then it is looking very bright. Commitment, passion and good old hard work got these boys here. They have inspired me and I hope they keep making the college proud.
