Peer Tutoring

Ben O'Connell —

Peer tutoring this year consisted of 14 Year 13 students that were kind enough to use some of their precious study periods in other classes, instead of visiting Burger King, the Sockburn Dairy, trawling Facebook, or, dare I say it, actually studying. Nah, I'm just playing.

The number of students that have taken the time to help their peers academically, no matter their year level, is extraordinary. Students have worked in classes through the peer mentoring programme. Students have worked after school in study zone. Students have also worked outside of school hours, helping each other to perform the best they can academically. There has been an amazing level of camaraderie within those in the peer tutoring programme, and this has been translated into further tutoring outside classes, exemplifying every quality the 'brotherhood' of St Thomas' possesses.

Thank you to the staff that have allowed the students of the peer tutoring programme to come into classes, to the teachers in learning support that have been incredible in every way, Mrs Collins in particular. Without your help, the programme more than likely would not have run. Finally, of course, a huge thank you to all the peer tutors, from everyone involved, students and staff alike!
