House Captain's Report

House Captain's Report

This year as house captain has been an epic adventure, and once again McClintock has claimed victory in the house tournament for 2017. We got off to a rough start to the year at swimming sports coming out in 4th place overall and I almost thought this was going to be the end of our victorious and prosperous house. But I didn’t expect anything amazing from the McClintock boys right from the get go, especially at swimming sports because everyone knows that we dominate athletics day. So, I went to the drawing board, came up with some powerful chants and we came out to athletics day roaring with noise and determination and ended up just as I predicted, a big green win.

Because of the vast different in points from the swimming sports we had been left very far behind the leading house which was Marlow I think so the Athletics day wasn’t enough for us to get out in front again, but it put us back in the game. The next event was a new one introduced this year which was the talent show where each house put forward some form of act, show or musical type of performance and we managed to receive the first place and fourth place awards which was awesome to see and a great start on our voyage to the top.

The final challenge this year though was going to be tough as I had some controversial song choices to make for our religious song. We made a bold move and chose to sing a different song to everyone else and sparked a revolution in the special character week, so now in future years houses can choose their religious song as instead of one song for everyone and although we lost the round we were still proud in our singing.

Next up we managed to smash the haka coming second and our leader Patrick Elia received the award for best kaia which was a great bonus. Overall the year as house captain has been a busy one, but will always be one of my favourite parts of STC.
