2015 Information Resource Centre Report

The Information Resource Centre has been a hive of activity this year with many events and activities taking place. The centre hosted Young Enterprise Scheme launches, ERO and Catholic Education Review visits and many other functions. The centre is frequently used by students and staff alike before school, during class time, interval, lunch and after school for study zone.

This year has seen the introduction of eight laptops, which students can borrow for one or two periods during the day to help them with their school work. This initiative was introduced in order to support the school wide move to BYOD and has been extremely successful, with all eight laptops usually issued to students each and every period. We look forward to growing this laptop programme in the future with the purchase of even more laptops for student use.

The library would not be able to function without the fantastic service of Mrs Marshall and Mrs Guerin, the duty teachers and our student librarians. We would like to thank all of our current student librarians, Tom Bennett, Jackson Clarke, Oliver Reid, Casey Harrington and Jes Pol Ramirez. We also thank and say goodbye to the librarians who are leaving us this year, Blake Rossiter, William Holden-Bluck, Bradley Blackler, Mo’ale Mo’ale, Mark Morrish and Nick Barrett. These students gave up their intervals and lunchtimes on a weekly basis, doing jobs such as photocopying, making posters, creating displays, fixing IT issues and setting up for events, in order to ensure the library was open and ran smoothly every day.

In 2016, we welcome some new student librarians to our team to take the place of those who are leaving this year. These students have been selected by the team, for the positive attitudes, qualities and skills they can contribute to the library team. Next year, we welcome Daniel Fogarty, William Abela, Ben Just-Alsop, Paddy Hansen and Rongo Clarke-Tamiau.

We would like to thank the amazing Student Librarians of 2015. Without exception, they brought to our team great organisational and problem-solving skills with humour and dedication. We especially are grateful for the outstanding leadership of the Year 13 guys who we farewell this year: Brad, Blake, William, Moale and Mark.
