It has been another busy week with lots of activity and opportunity for our students outside of the classroom. I would like to wish our team of students and staff the best of luck as they compete in the annual Bishop Lyons Shield competition over the weekend, this year being hosted by Catholic Cathedral College.

We have supported a number of charitable activities throughout the last two weeks, in particular Gumboot Day supporting the mental health of young people, our annual can drive to support St Vincent de Paul, and, next week, Shave for a Cure supporting those with cancer. It is great to see our students so connected in wanting to help others.

Brendan Biggs, Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning, is in the process of gathering data from our staff on predicting NCEA grades for our senior students. This will be communicated at the start of Term 2. This initiative was a key driver lifting the academic performance of our senior students by allowing both students and staff to have a clear understanding of progress throughout the year. Such was the success of this initiative, we have extended a similar version to our junior school.

We had quite an incredible week during summer tournament week, the results were reported on last week. I did want to acknowledge the national title that our students won in the Senior Futsal competition - winning a national takes a lot of commitment, skill, hard work and sometimes a little luck. Well done to the players, staff and parents involved in winning this title.

As we head into the cooler weather, it is timely to remind our community of our uniform standards. Our school jacket, blazer and jersey are the only acceptable items that are to be worn in the cooler weather.
