Reminder: Rite Journey - Mentoring Morning
Dear Parents/Caregivers of Year 10 students,
As a part of the Rite Journey programme this year, the boys are required to find a mentor who will support them as grow, develop key skills, and navigate the good/tough times ahead. In Week 9 of this term, on Thursday 22nd June, we will have a student/mentor morning here at school.
The mentor could be an older sibling (school leaver), parent, family friend etc. This person will ideally be a significant role model in your son's life.
The morning will begin at 7.30am (please arrive before this) and we will hear from a guest speaker on the important role mentors play in our lives.
Following this (8:00am) we all move to the gym, where we will take part in a partners “HIIT” workout with Matt Bateman and the team from “HIIT Squad.” If you are able, please bring some exercise clothes for this.
Finally, after working up a sweat, you will spend some time with your young man to plan for the term ahead, working on developing a new skill or skills that will be valuable for the future. this could be “changing a tire, writing a budget, tying a tie, setting the table & cooking a meal etc.” The boys are required to collect evidence of the learning process (photos, videos etc.) and will present back near the end of Term 3.
Plan as follows:
Arrive at STC by 7.30am on 22nd June.
7.30am – Guest speaker: The importance of having a mentor
8:00am – HIIT Squad workout
8:45am – Planning for the Term ahead.
9:30am – Boys back to class for Period 2.
Many thanks,
Rite Journey Teachers
