Next year WATCH OUT!

At the beginning of 2021, our tama were informed that Manu Kōrero would be held at the end of term 2. It was then explained, that without an entry in the category of senior or junior māori, our kura would not be allowed to attend the prestigious event. Te Wharekauri then said, “No way Whāea, I can do it, you will help me aye?”

With a smile not only on my face, but in my heart, I secured the position there and then, before he could change his mind. Haha. That same day, Tainui approached me, and asked if he too, could stand and represent our kura, for the Junior English section, do I have the best students or what?

I preceded to repeat the same task as I had done with Te Wharekauri, for the very same reason. No lies, you have to do what you have to do. I am so glad I did, because both of our boys brought me to tears. The mana that exuberated from them both, would’ve made The Rock cry. Both were the youngest competitors of their category, and both stood for the first time. They both placed 4th in their categories, Tainui claiming that place by 2 points. WOW!
