MCSC 2021 Magazine Report
MCSC 2021 Magazine Report
2021 was going to be the uninterrupted year of learning and developing our young men…and then COVID struck again!
Apart from the brief break away from school, things for MCSC pretty much remained the same. Here’s a snippet of the key day to day happenings in the life of MCSC.
Monday morning shared breakfasts started with a hiss and a roar and then petered out near the end of the year. Having said this, we did get through 3 large jars of Nutella chocolate spread, 4 margarine spreads, 3 large tins of milo, 4 packets of coffee, 16 loaves of toast, and 17 2L bottles of milk! Let’s push this again next year. We also introduced at Mentor time the reading of prayers by everyone in turn – this started with prayers being written at the start of the year and then a roster system for daily readings. This was done in a safe environment where all students felt more and more comfortable reading their prayers in their turn.
For Special Character Week, the boys sold lolly bags and savouries and cold drinks. By word of mouth, the ‘combo deals’ spread like wildfire throughout school and many food items were sold out with an hour to go! The ‘committee’ will need to look at the prices for next year to improve profits! At the same time, Gevin ran a large PS4 gaming session with three PS4’s running simultaneously! This had the adrenalin pumped all afternoon in MS9!
All in all, it has been another disruptive year for the mentor group, but I commend the boys for displaying resilience as they have supported each other through the fun times as well as the hard times. We also wish Gevin all the best as he now continues his journey outside of STC. Bring on 2022!
