As usual the year started with a hiss and a roar for the mighty Joyce House. Only a week after arriving back from the Summer Break we were straight into Swimming sports, an event usually dominated by Marlow, the men in Red knew we had a big job on our hands. Not quite able to get the W, but taking out second place, we turned our attention turned towards Athletics. Led by our Kaitiaki Mitch Barrett, the boys again put in a massive effort throughout the day. The chant set the tone, and our boys competed fiercely across the events. Unfortunately, after leading in parts, we again had to settle for second.

The next big house event came in week 10 of term 2 (Special Character Week). While singing has been one of our big strengths in past years, the results didn’t go our way on this occasion and the haka wasn’t much better, but the boys had heaps of fun and it was great to see them representing themselves and the College well.
