Hamish Barclay - December 8, 2022
RIHB 2022.
Another Year for the mighty RIHB and another year of great lads, good yarns and excellent results.
2022 saw our class balloon out as we had Cruz join us in Year 12 and Kobe stayed on to dominate the Bball courts for another year. Also, with Mr Barclay not doing Assemblies he could spend some more time with the boys on a Monday making Milo’s for all.
We also welcomed some new students with a theme of family ties being strong. Orlando joined us in Year 7 as a brother of Sebastian a previous RIHB graduate. Also, Caleb brother of Josh also was welcomed in year 7, great to have those connections continue. Tinipati joined us in Year 9 also.
The Year started well with a great pass rate from our NCEA students and Alex McCorkindale getting the Deputy Head Boy job. Throughout the year what was most pleasing was seeing the boys giving things a go and achieving across the board. In Year 7 Orlando and Caleb fitted in well with the group, it was awesome to see Caleb get Player of the Year for his rugby Team and Orlando smashing his school work! Uliano had a rough start with a few operations in Term 1 but both he and Ben in Year 8 brought the humour when needed. It was great to have Henry return to us in Year 9 and continue his talent on the scooter.
Our Year 10 crew of Hunter, Connor and Tomai seemed like seasoned pro’s. It was great to see Connor get back into rugby and Tomai get some fights in kickboxing. Sean got a medal for his badminton and along with Alex and Toby have taken to NCEA in Year 11.
Our heartbeat probably belongs to Monty and Caleb in Year 12 who have taken on leadership within the group. Always leading when needed and helping out with great quotes.
Finally, to our Year 13s. It’s been a journey! Kobe has been with us for 6 Years and has been Kaitiaki and a winning one at that as well as leading our Basketball team to new heights. Liam, he made it! Well maybe not to class but completed Year 13 which is awesome to see. Josh Price leaves his brother to replace him! 7 years of hard graft but finishing off well and heading to university. Athletic Nationals, NCEA Excellence endorsements and LOTS of chats we wish you all the best. And finally, the MAN! Alex. 7 years of just awesomeness, so much leadership and effort its been great seeing you dominate with Excellence endorsements and Athletics results, hopefully you keep in touch.
Next year will be another great time for us to keep the traditions up.
Lets go the lads!
