JODR Mentoring Report

JODR (The form group formerly known as JOKL) experienced a few changes this year. Mr. Ryan took over from Mr. Lafdal, who had left some big shoes to fill and we welcomed Marshall and Jacob into the fold as new recruits for the STC whanau. The form class made MS9 their home after the lockdown disruption of Term 2 and settled back into the usual routine of school.

Kyan, Marrou and Mason all participated in the annual Shave for a Cure fundraiser, which was the school's most successful to date. Brooklyn found success through Rugby, helping his U15 team claim victory in their age group's competition, while Marshall and Josh continued to impress on the cricket pitch. Xavier continued his involvement in the school's rowing team and encouraged Jim to get himself involved as well, although a broken hand will see Jim in the coach boat for a couple of weeks. Our very own Harvey Cogle continued his domination of the Athletics track, coming first overall, placing second in the year 10 Cross Country, and being picked for the Canterbury U14 Athletics Team. He is also part of the Performance Programme for Basketball (watch this space).

Leo managed a successful year of study as a first-time NCEA student while Aidan ensured the mentor group was always in touch with their inner philosopher, always asking the big questions i.e. "why can't I leave class?" The footballer of the class, Max, qualified for the CAIMS Team while Ben participated in the Evolocity programme and also managed a second place in the Year 8 Cross Country. Ciaran managed to gain his driver's licence (after a couple of goes at it) and the icing on the cake was when Matt was announced as Spiritual Leader for 2021. A young man (with quite the talent for singing) he will continue to make JODR proud.

Kia Ora, 再见, and All the Best,

JODR.
