2020 has proven itself to be a huge year of development for the First XI at STC.

Some great results came our way at the beginning of the year taking out the two day cup competition before lockdown, off the back of some great cricket being played. Needing a draw from the last game to gain entry to the top grade for the second half of the season we showed great determination to bat for majority of the second day.

We are currently competing in the one day competition and have been eager to prove ourselves as a strong cricketing school in Christchurch. After starting the season relatively roughly against Christ College, we are slowly building some consistent performances with bat and ball to compete. With 2 more games left we will look to play with no fear and finish strongly.

Although there have been some incredible individual performances throughout this year one of the main factors of our team is the attitude of our players from year 10 to 13. Always looking for what each person can contribute to the game or the training is what we look for.

It has been a great pleasure to be in this team beside so many different boys over the last few years. It was a special honour to be asked to captain these fine young men for 2020 and wish them all luck for the start of next year’s season.
