Community Service Report

This year was full of great initiatives that were carried on from the year previous and new ones started as well. My focus for the year was to encourage inclusion within the college. By giving the boys the opportunity to contribute their personal skills to an activity would make them feel welcome and needed within their environment. To achieve this the leadership team pushed our well known special character week, having the annual fair and tug of war. We decided to include a new event into the week, it was called Form Class Challenge.

This event was an inter house competion which the teams are made up of the form classes. Who then competed in different activity’s which earns their house points. With the challenges the form class must use everyone’s abilities to get them through. This event encouraged people to show their strengths in a small group with people they know. The idea of these games would be to promote the brother hood in the form groups to allow the relationship between the class to grow stronger with each of the students and the teacher.

With the aim of promoting the community, I hatched a plan for a new sign board to be designed and made by the BICTO boys at school. This sign board was started to show the community both in and outside the college the upcoming events, important messages and achievements of all aspects. The team is hoping to get the sign built by term 4, but fingers crossed.

Other community responsibilities that were passed on the following years were still strongly promoted in the college. Peer support was a big one this year and with a help of 14 senior students it was a great success with the year 13s going around the junior classes. Along with helping the community within we helped outside of the college as well. We helped
