NATIONAL CHAMPIONS - SENIOR FUTSAL
A special day in the history of St Thomas of Canterbury College occurred in April at the New Zealand secondary schools Futsal Championships in Wellington.
Both teams were playing in finals a few hours apart and a statement was made; STC is a force in Futsal.
For the Junior Team it was heartache in the final after convincing displays throughout the week. Super proud of what these young men have achieved.

Senior:
Three years in the making after dominating the junior final and winning in 2016, 2019 was meant to be a special year for the bulk of this group and it delivered. National champions!!! The game was played in front of a hostile Wellington crowd against a talented Scotts College team. The boys never flinched and played their hearts and souls out which showed when they were reduced to 3 outfield players for 2 minutes and Scotts couldn’t break through (MANAWA). The game ended 1-1 after a stunning free kick from Aashish Rai and numerous saves from the Scotts College NZ under 17 goalie. The game went to penalties where Lachie Doyle saved their second attempt. Seth Simpson and Mika Rabuka had already converted from the spot and Aashish Rai delivered the knock out blow, sending the away supporters in raptures and a senior national secondary school title to St Thomas.
