The College community notes with sadness the death of Br Vin Ives, who died on 13 November at the age of 83 years. Br Vin had been a loved member of the Christian Brothers' Religious Congregation and the Wharenui Road Brothers' community, until recently moving to Rannerdale Home and then Nazareth House.
Br Vin was Queenstown born, Dunedin raised, and trained in the Novitiate in Sydney, followed by teaching at St Peter's College in Auckland, St Thomas of Canterbury College in Christchurch, St Paul's High School in Dunedin and Nukutere College in Rarotonga. He also had community placements in Auckland, Murupara, Dunedin and Westport and time in mission work in Tanzania and Kenya.Our thoughts and prayers are with Br Vin's family and the brothers' community in the loss of a gentle and dedicated man and we are thankful for his service here at St Thomas' in particular.

At the conclusion of the mass, Br Vin was laid to rest in the Christian Brothers' plot in Waimairi Cemetery, Christchurch.
