1st XI - Leavers from the team

Jacob Grosvenor —

The year 13 leavers….

Jacob “Referee” Grosvenor (Captain)

In between conversations with the referee Jacob Grosvenor was our captain for the year. In his third year in the first XI Jacob showed his ability to play at this level in playing in his less favoured position of centre back for the good of the team. Often first to trainings and games setting up and preparing things Jacob showed his leadership off the pitch too. His big grin and bellowing yells on the football field will be sorely missed.

Jamie “2-foot” Milne

Well, well, well… Jamie wasn’t shy of a 50/50 challenge nor was he afraid of voicing his many daily thoughts and opinions. Jamie was and will remain one of a kind to come through the footballing ranks here at the college. Jamie has some pure talent, hunger and determination and always played with a lot of passion. Jamie put a lot of time into helping coach juniors and was always keen to help where needed. We wish Jamie and his entire personality all the best for the future.

Marty “work-horse” Lopez

This little pocket rocket was up there with one of the fieriest Chileans you will ever meet but never spoke out of turn. He spoke with his hard work rate and ability to latch himself onto shirts and bend his legs around opponents that nobody else could. A senior player in our midfield this year and controlling many games. It has been a pleasure watching Marty grow as a young man and a footballer and we wish him all the best with his studies next year.

Joe “Mr Reliable” Devine

Joe has developed incredibly well as a footballer throughout his time at STC. He became a regular starter due to his ability to read a game. Joe was never sarcastic and would never stray from the strict discussion of tactics, pre-game nutrition and early bed times. His ability to make sure all Plastations were turned off and players were in bed before 10pm on tournament was really appreciated….

Sean “Ladies man”

The Bachelor 2018 has already been in contact with this young man with his smooth talking and silky skills on a football field. When opposition players saw Sean charging towards them they knew they were either going to be flattened or missed as Sean may have hands down invented the term feast or famine when it came to challenging for a header. His cool head and maturity on the field led our players through some tough times. Good luck Sean on next year’s Hallensteins modelling contract.
