JOSR

Shane Reddy —

Its another brilliant end of the year for JOSR more so for the seniors then the Juniors at this stage. End of last year saw 4 seniors leaving making space for 4 new bright shining stars to Join out brotherhood at JOSR. In came sharpshooter and a man on a mission Stanly Vale. With a sharp IQ and a witty sense of humor came John Modequillo, the silent type. Next was the all-rounder Jacob Tullet. Football in winter and cricket in summer John was there with his infectious smile. Lastly was super star Tyson Lynch, the man with the focus. An excellent swimmer, chit-chatter and ever helpful.

Through the course of the year, we fare welled Richie Tupuailei who has gone over to join another mentor class. His respectful mannerism and leadership within the group is missed. Next was another amazing young man who was an integral part of the JOSR team; Curtis Heinz. He has left to join Lincoln.

At the end of the year we will see 3 other pillars of our community leave our herd to go on and do bigger and better things with an educated heart and an educated mind. Its difficult to talk about JOSR, or STC without talking about Mitchell Barrett. Being part of the Kaitiaki, first 15 and the man behind the camera lens. Next is the sleek and elusive Ethan Mani. The man with a free spirit. Like the wind he carves up the football pitch and just like the cool summer breeze he waltz into class with a great story. And Finally it’s a sad farewell to Finn Clarke. As sharp as any tool in our mentor class (the workshop), a master in the art or banter and sarcasm. No dad joke was ever lost on him.

Keep the stories fresh in our minds, keep the brotherhood in our hearts. The handshakes, the nods, the “shoulder to shoulder” as we sang and did the haka, the daily prayers, the weekly chats. Let us remember all the good things… till we meet again.
