ANZAC DAY (April 25th 2020)

Dear families and friends, students and staff of the Colleges in the Edmund Rice Network New Zealand: Kavanagh College (Dunedin), Liston College (Auckland), Saint Kevin’s College (Oamaru), Saint Peter’s College (Auckland), Saint Thomas of Canterbury College (Christchurch)

Anzac Day is one of the most important national occasions for both Australians and New Zealanders. ANZAC Day is a special day in our history allowing us to honour the past and focus our prayers through examples of selflessness, servant leadership, sacrifice and suffering. In 2020, for the first time in history, Anzac Day Services across New Zealand have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Even though public Anzac Services are unable to go ahead, it does not mean that the tradition of remembering and commemorating our veterans and service personnel should be cancelled too.

We have still found a way to connect. We are pleased to share this prayer liturgy with you all. Please light a candle and watch it as a family.
