Feast Day - Today, Friday 5th May

He's not just a statue.

May 5th is the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice. He's not just a statue, he's the man who showed us all a new way to see gospel truth. The College will host a Social Justice event for Colleges in the diocese and we will share this prayer in all classes:

+ Ki te ingoa o te Matua, o te Tamaiti, o te Wairua Tapu, Amene.

Loving God,

As we gather today to celebrate Edmund Rice's Feast Day, we come together in unity with the Edmund Rice Network around the world. We are grateful for this unique connection, which spans continents and cultures, united by a common vision of love, justice, and compassion. On this special day, we remember the life and legacy of Edmund Rice, who dedicated himself to serving the marginalized and vulnerable. Inspired by his example and his words, "Give to the poor in handfuls," we strive to uphold these values in our own lives and communities.

We pray for the strength to carry forward the mission of Edmund Rice, to be a light in the darkness, and to touch the hearts of those around us. May we continue to grow in love, understanding, and empathy, as we work together in solidarity with our global family, generously giving and serving those in need.
