Bishop Lyons Shield Competition 2023

The seven Catholic Colleges of the Christchurch diocese will participate in public speaking competitions to try and win the coveted Bishop Lyons Shield. It is a significant highlight of the year for the College.

This year’s team will travel to John Paul II College in Greymouth for the tournament.

The events run March 10-12 (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon).

We are extremely excited to be part of the 2023 tournament and to be in Greymouth. 2022 was wisely cancelled due to COVID restrictions and now it’s game on. The coaches are Mr Kawenga, Mr Kennedy, Mr Baker and Mrs Shields. We are so grateful to old boy Daniel Fogarty for being our lead coach. Our brotherhood extends beyond your time in the blazer!

The weekend is more than a tournament. The Colleges gather for Mass, dinner, fellowship and fun. Lifelong friendships can be made, …and rivalries!
