Sports Update

Kia ora,

This week we had the privilege of badging several of our summer sports students. These included cricket, rowing, athletics and woodchopping. We also congratulated our bowls and touch students who have recently competed to a high standard. The badging of our akonga represent hard work, dedication and the ability to work for their teammates. It has been so special to watch all our summer sports compete after the stop start nature of 2022. What is most pleasing is how our students are playing their sport. With a high level of sportsmanship and with the ability to play hard but play fair in all they do. Congratulations to our 1st XI for making their final, all the best for tomorrow! We wish our touch boys well this weekend too as they play in the regional tournament in Belfast.

We are set to farewell several squads to events around the country for summer sports week. Rowing head to Maadi cup - this is a huge event, and we wish these men all the very best as they compete after two years of major disruptions. Our bowls team head to Auckland for the week, our futsal team head away for the national champs to Wellington, and our newly formed mountain biking team heads to the South Island champs in Queenstown. Lastly our 3 x 3 national basketball team head to Auckland!

Thank you to all our coaches and staff who give their time to attend and organise these events, it has been a big term of sport at Kura!

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to our winter sign ups. We have recently engaged Sporty to make things easier and to allow a one stop shop for registering and paying for fees associated with sport at STC. Below is the link to our rugby sign ups. If your son is playing rugby this year for school this is now live to sign up. A reminder as per NZR guidelines, players must be registered to play. Please see the link below. In the coming weeks other winter sports will come online too!

We will update you as this happens.

Have a great weekend!
