Epro 8 2021

On Thursday 6th May, Mr Jones took two teams of Year 9 and 10 boys to the Epro 8 challenge at Hillmorton High School. The boys competed against 10 other teams in four engineering challenges.

They used the Epro 8 kits and electronics to build a solar powered device that tracked the movement of the sun, and a laser sensitive burglar proof safe.

They had 2 ½ hours to build their designs from scratch using the kits. And at the end of the day the Year 10 team of Ben Chapman, Henry Thomson, Mathias Tiede and Jayden Walker emerged triumphant. This is the culmination of nearly three years competing at this grade and was a well deserved win. Our Year 9 team of Elliot Weerts, Marcus Quinanola, William Fekotai and Matthew Aguilar came in a very respectable 7th place.

The winning team will now progress to the grand final of top Christchurch schools taking place at Papanui High School in a few weeks. We wish them the best and will follow their progress.
