How do Ruma Ono measure up?
Today we explored the magic of 10, place value and jellies.
Did you know there are 10 groups of 10 in 100? There are also 10 groups of 100 in 1000. We lined up all our 1000 cube blocks and then made some all - we had 42 000 cubes altogether!
Then we looked at metre rulers and discovered that there were 1000 millimetres (mm) in one metre (m). But we didn’t stop there! We went down to the pool and measured out water - we found out that there are 1000 millilitres (mls) in a litre (L). Wow, it’s all connected.
But do you know what we did next? We made 3500 millilitres (mls) of jelly in rabbit moulds. We all helped to oil the moulds and stir the gelatine. We left them to set overnight and then had a rabbit jelly party!
