Creativity or Anahatanga is one of our graduate profile outcomes and part of our school vision.
It’s always wonderful seeing the imaginations of our tamariki and to witness the incredible power of creativity as it flourishes within the minds and words of our talented students here at Stanley Bay School.
On Friday the following children showed me their writing and received a Principals sticker for their fantastic work. Creativity/Anahatanga was on fine display within the following students writing:
Room 1: Rame and Ria
Room 2: Zoe and Izzy
Room 4: Totto and Lola
Room 6: Ethan, Elise and Declan
Room 7: Rodrigo and Hanalei
Room 8: George and Mathilda
Room 9: Olive and Beth
Room 10: Betsy and Sophie
Room 11: Kaito and Sebby
Room 14: Alice and William
I read imaginative poems, remarkable recounts and descriptions, as well as narratives that had me in suspense. I also got to see all of Room 8’s stunning writing about their trip to the beach which are now displayed on the wall in their classroom. I look forward to seeing more children and their writing this coming Friday and each week thereafter.
Hanalei’s poem:
At Stanley Bay Beach I hear…
Seagulls squawking in the air
Kids squealing not fair not fair
I wish I could fly
like a seagull in the sky!”
I see…
Standing high
As birds fly by
Birds perch on the shore
That people ignore.
I smell…
Salty sea air
sneaking up my nose
Freshly cut grass
that the wind blows.
I feel…
The soft crunchy sand
Tickling my feet
Trying to stay cool
In the summer heat.
I taste…
Yummy chips
So salty
Tomato sauce
As red as can be.
