ENROL AT STANLEY BAY SCHOOL

Rachael Hamilton —

We are delighted to welcome you and your family to Stanley Bay School. Our aim is to optimise your child’s achievement in a caring and happy atmosphere. We want children to be positive in their own identity and develop self-confidence in an environment where learning is central to all that we do.

To enrol your child you will need to complete an enrolment form, provide proof of address, an original birth certificate and a copy of your child’s immunisation certificate.

Please click below for a copy of the enrolment form or contact Rachael at office@stanleybay.school.nz

Once your child is enrolled we will arrange for you and your child to attend two pre-school visits to the new entrant class. You are invited to remain at school to experience morning tea or lunch break. Each term we also hold parent information evenings for parents of children starting the following term. These meetings will help to familiarise you with school routines and are a great opportunity to meet other new parents.

Cohort Entry
To determine when your child starts school we use cohort entry. This means that children who have their fifth birthday between the start and mid term date begin school at the start of term. Children who have a fifth birthday after the mid term date are able to begin school at the start of the following term.

Stanley Bay School Zone
Enrolments at Stanley Bay School are subject to an enrolment scheme.

Home zone
All students who live within the home zone shown on the Stanley Bay School Zone Map are entitled to enrol at the school.

Out of Zone Enrolments
Each year the Board will determine the number of places, which are likely to be available for students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and a date by which all applications must be received.

Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

First Priority: Special programmes (This priority category is not applicable because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary).

Second Priority: Siblings of current students.

Third Priority: Siblings of former students.

Fourth Priority: Children of Board employees.

Fifth Priority: All other applicants.

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot, by notice in a daily or community newspaper, circulating in the area served by the school.
