Memories of Stanley Bay School
As the countdown to the end of the year approaches the year 6's in Rm 7 have been sharing some of their memories.
On my first day of school, I remember making my first friend: Wren. Wren showed me where to put my bag and I chose next to her bag and we instantly became best friends. The funniest part though is that when I first arrived I just sat there, breaking crayons despite knowing not too and Wren just stared. When I was a year 2, I got told off by the old principal: Mrs Vintin. I remember crying but now, when I look back, I find it very funny! Another bad part was hiding underneath the old playground slide; crying and sucking my finger as it was my second day of school!! Probably my two best parts of Stanley Bay School was becoming a house Leader for Rangitoto and feeling very proud. The other favourite part of Stanley Bay School was making up The Attenborough Club!!
We now help nature as much as possible even though lockdown has kind of stopped it, but I hope it carries on even after I have left.
The Attenborough Club planted lots and lots of bushes, flowers, plants, and trees all over the top court Pohutukawa, making it my favourite place and lots of other people too.
My other favourite spot is the-- bottom court Pohutukawa as it is so much fun to climb and I love lying on the grass underneath it with my friends.
My 3 favourite teachers are Mrs Naylor the principal as she has helped me with The Attenborough Club and has been very kind and patient. Mrs Rains as she was my very first teacher ever!! But sadly she left.I am really looking forward to B.I.S as it will be a nice change. When I am older, I would love to be a Naturalist to help the world and I have a hobby for Horses so maybe an Equestrian Horse Rider. Matilda K
On my first day, my palms were sweating, and my heart was beating, but I will never forget the kind faces of my new classmates, smiling like little suns, lighting my future. Or the time when I had just received my term certificate, and the hall was thundering with applause, and my face, the colour of strawberry juice, beaming at the crowd. And how could I forget the sting of the wind on my face, the chill on my skin as I played netball every week in winter on that bottom court.
I remember how the pool was only chest-deep, but a welcoming refreshment for my classmates and me on a hot summer day. Little waves curled over crystal-clear water as we played tag in the wet.
My three favourite places of my primary school were the big pohutukawa tree, as in its branches we could climb and in its shade we would eat lunch, the green team garden with all its flowers and plants, giving me a place of shelter and relaxation. And last but not least, my Year 6 classroom, with its view of the field and its cheery atmosphere.
The teachers that I remember most are Mrs Mackrill, my first ever New Zealand teacher, welcoming me into the school. And Mrs Pelham, my last teacher, sending me off to intermediate school.
When I grow up, I want to be an Artist, an Author or an Art Teacher. My goals are to draw attention to environmental needs and do something about them and to entertain/relax other people with my work.
Now that I am about to leave Stanley Bay, I am looking forward to trying new things, and to learn new skills. Making new friends is also high on my to-do list.
I am proud to have attended Stanley Bay, and I will always remember my amazing primary school. Milena
I remember lots of things at Stanley Bay like when pokemon go was a big thing in years 3 and 4. Back when I was 8 it was always a competition to have the coolest baye blade. There were lots of different houses Motatapu Waiheke Rakino and of course Rangitoto the house I was in Every year we would have a house sports day. Every house would have multiple groups and they would battle it out in games like piggyback race in the pool and lots more. I remember one of my favourite teachers Mrs Stedman she was my teacher in year 3 And I can't forget my current teacher Mrs Pelham. Mrs Pelham has taught me for 2 years now and she has taught me a lot. In the future, I would really love to play for the All Blacks but I am really not sure what else I would like to do. Gus
Some of my favourite memories at Stanley Bay include my days at camp, my love for sports and awards assembly. My favourite memory at camp is getting up every and seeing if the hall lights were on if they were I would sprint across the wet and freezing cold field to get to the hall to play ping pong with my friends. Another one of my favourite memories was in the hall for athletic awards.
There are lots of nice places at Stanley Bay School but probably my favourite place is the field because that's where I go every day to run around. I also love the pohutukawa because when I'm feeling a bit down I love to climb and play on it.
There are many great teachers at Stanley Bay but the ones that stand out the most to me are definitely Mrs. Pelham and Mr. Narwal ( sorry if I spelt that wrong). Mrs. Pelham is definitely one of my favourite teachers ever because she is strict, smart, sporty and fun. Mr. Narwal is also one of my favourite teachers because every day I see him he always puts a smile on my face and he always puts my work in his binder. Stryder
