World famous at Stanley Bay

Scott Boniface —

Last Tuesday, Room 6 was lucky to have a television crew come into school and film students for the TV show 7 Days.

On Monday, Room 6 was given two news items that students would draw a picture about to explain that story.

How the game works

The segment starts with the footage of a child holding up their picture and saying, 'Hi, I'm ... and I go to Stanley Bay Primary, and this is my picture'.

At that point, the footage is paused while our teams of comedians try to figure out what the news story relates to. Once the teams have answered, the footage continues of the child explaining the news item and what their drawing is of. The idea is to have fun with the news stories and decipher the child's interpretation.

Here are the topics the students were given

“Not enough people are going to watch rugby”

  • Not enough people are watching rugby in the stadiums

  • It used to be incredibly popular, and now there aren't many people at all

  • What do they think would fix it? What would make rugby more exciting for the

“A doctor is jailed for forging all of his documents”

  • A man is in trouble after pretending to be a doctor

  • He faked all of his documents

  • He worked for six months and saw 81 patients before someone found out

The students had a productive Monday afternoon and created amazing pictures that made it difficult for the TV crew to choose only five. Eventually, they settled on Isla, Olive, Fleur, Flore, and Nina. During filming, there were some retakes, outtakes, and hilarious moments, but the crew ultimately selected Olive and Fleur to appear in the TV show.

The girls did an outstanding job and showcased Stanley Bay perfectly. We extend our gratitude to Mrs McDonnell for her efforts in facilitating this art project and to Room 6 for their exceptional artistic skills. Overall, it was a fantastic effort! The show went to air on Thursday 4th May @ 7.30 pm.

You can view the show at TV Three.
