Max the Pūkeko and Auckland Transport come to Stanley Bay

Scott Boniface —

This morning we were excited to have Max the Pūkeko at school to make coming to school safer for our students.

As part of the slower speeds around schools initiative, our school leaders, armed with stickers, were out and about this morning. The aim is to encourage our students to either walk to school or be dropped off on the main roads, reducing the number of cars on Russell Street and Glen Road.

We were also super excited to have the return of our walking school bus, which had a good number of passengers enjoying their walk to school.

If you drive your child to school, we encourage you to drop them off on either Calliope Road or Waterview Road. The short walk to school helps reduce traffic and creates a safer environment around our school. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The leaders will be promoting this initiative at various times during the year in alignment with the redesign of the school crossing and reduced speed limits on all arterial roads around Stanley Bay School.
