Kia ora e te whānau,
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday break, it is great to hear what everyone got up to. On Monday we were delighted to welcome our new whanau who have joined us since the last whakatau last term.
We also welcomed Keryn Van Sheik as a new learning assistant and ICT support. Keryn is working with tamariki/children with English as a Second Language and where there are other learning needs in the school, such as taking maths support groups.
It is also encouraging to see the increase in enrolments to our school, as parents choose Stanley Bay School as their school of choice. The fantastic staff that we have at our kura go above and beyond for our tamariki in the way they deliver the New Zealand Curriculum, care for their akonga/learners and are a key contributing factor to the success of Stanley Bay School. As trained professionals their role calls on many skills besides delivering the curriculum, one is delivering superb behaviour management. As parents we have the challenge of a few children at home, in the classroom there are many more.
This thought reminded me of the Parenting Place, which I used to work for and is a wonderful community organisation that supports parents with children of all ages. The resources and courses encourage all parents in all the wonderful things that they are already doing, but also give tips on things that parents can try.

Last term our whole school made a fish sculpture to be in the Sculpture on the Shore exhibition. Details for that will be coming soon.
I also would like to remind everyone that I have an open door. If you would like to see me, contact the office to book a time to meet. Have a great week.
