Stanley Bay School- winners of highly commended prize!

Judges Feedback:

This is a spectacular example of many pupils learning different techniques and construction skills and using a wide range of materials to produce a harmonious piece of colourful, joyful 3D art on a grand scale. The feeling of being in an aquarium with the light filtering through from above was an inspired use of the space.

Pakiwaitara o Matariki:

Carving the Matariki Story Schools: Bayswater School, Belmont Intermediate, Belmont Primary School, Devonport Primary School , Hauraki School, St Leo’s Catholic School, Stanley Bay School Coordinator: Natalie Bell (Bayswater School PTA) Master Carver: Natanahira Pono

These intricacy of the carving and the transformation of these panels when exposed to UV light creates a breathtaking entrance to the Schools Exhibition. What a privilege for these students to learn traditional skills from a Tohunga whakairo. We applaud the collaboration of these 7 schools to work independently to create a cohesive story.
