Kia ora e te whānau,
Mud Run and Raffle tickets
Thank you to all parents who are supporting in some way on the day of our huge and greatly anticipated community event: The Mud Run. The success of the event hinges on the collective support we receive. It is heartening to see all the raffle ticket books return this week, with mostly whole books sold. Anyone who has sold 2 or more raffle books will get popcorn tomorrow. Anyone who has sold a raffle ticket book this week, will get popcorn on Friday.
The final week for raffle tickets to come back is next week. We kindly request the return of all tickets, even those that haven’t been sold. Anyone who sells a whole book next week will also receive popcorn.
At the end of next week, the prizes for the students who are the top 10 sellers will receive prizes: first place: $50 Paradox voucher. Second place: $30 The Vic voucher. The remaining 7 top sellers will get a Zuru toy.
Assemblies and dates:
I have really appreciated the constructive feedback about the assembly time change from the community, whether this be from a chat or via email. From the volume of feedback from parents, it was important to listen too. Assemblies are a key community event of which parents love to attend to see their children perform and receive certificates.
While there has been an increase in parent attendance at our assemblies, I have also heard how parents have had to take whole mornings off work to attend, rather than start work late.
The staff and I have reviewed how the assembly time has gone and together we have worked out, that from Term 4, assemblies can go back to the time of 9.10am, while still prioritising the learning on Fridays.
Term 4 will see the assembly time change back to 9.10am.
The assembly dates are:
Week 1: Monday 9th October: Whakatau to welcome all new students and their whanau
Week 2: Friday 20th October
Week 4: Friday 3rd November
Week 6: Friday 17th November
Week 8: Friday 1 December
Other key dates:
Week 9:
House Sports afternoon rotation
Week 10:
Monday 11 December: Prizegiving assembly
Tuesday 12 December: Junior celebration assembly. Year 6 leavers party (5.30 - 7.30pm)
Wednesday 13 December: Year 6 leaving assembly.

The next newsletter will have other key dates for Term 4 such as our Teacher Only Day on Friday 24th November.
