Poem, Story & Art Competition

The Devonport RSA is conducting a Poetry, Story & Art Competition in conjunction with Remembrance Day 2021

The aim of the Competition is to raise awareness of the impact on the Devonport community of the casualties of war. Details of the competition are:

Young poets, writers, and artist’s original material

∙ The competition is open to primary and intermediate school students either living in our community or attending a secondary school within the Devonport – Takapuna area.

∙ Prizes: Based on the number and type of entries received book vouchers, valued at $50.00 each, will be awarded. Alternatively, a private one-and-a-half-hour art lesson from a local and renowned artist may be awarded.

Entries close at 5,00pm Sunday 10 October 2021 

Judging criteria includes:

Poem/Story

  •  Clear focus on the topic: Remembering –Why and How?”
  •  Choice of words & content
  •  Creating impact.
  •  Age of student

Artwork

  •  A poster theming around ANZAC or Remembrance Day using any 'visual' media, i.e., pencil,
  • pen, paint, or pastel
  •  Must be the children’s/ student’s own work. Inspiration may be taken from picture books,
  • movies photos etc. may be used.
  •  Design, composition, and impact.
  •  Age of student
