EPro8 Competition Teams

Rachael Hamilton —

Over the past few weeks seven Stanley Bay teams of year 5/6 students have taken part in a series of EPro8 in-school challenges in which they have used our new EPro8 resource kits to build large-sized structures, solve practical problems, engineer using pulleys, motors, gears, wheels and axles, invent machines that can complete simple tasks and undertake unusual and fun experiments.

We have been amazed by the passion and talent of many of our kids, as well as the focus and collaborative team work that the teams displayed. The groups had enormous fun creating some very impressive fire trucks and mega-gear fishing rods.

have moved forward this week to the North Shore competition and are hoping to make it into the Auckland regional final with their mechanical creature inventions.

The results will be announced in Term 4.

We are delighted that this new EPro8 resource is now available to use as part of our ongoing enrichment programmes in school and there will be more opportunities coming up for kids to try their hand at engineering and problem-solving.

We look forward to hearing the final results.
