Kia ora e te whānau
Stanley Bay School has had a busy week of activities and we have been very lucky with the weather
The Disco
What a wonderful event. The children had an awesome time.
Thank you to Tabatha and Paul for organising the disco, Arien for doing the incredible photos, and Holly for organising the adult social alongside the disco.
I look forward to more in 2024.
Athletics Day
A great success. Thank you to all parents and carers who came to cheer on the children.
Congratulations to all the children for taking part and giving it a go.
The Marae Trip
Yesterday was a very important and special day. Thank you to the board who were able to make it and the parents who came along also.
Our students did us proud, from the leaders doing the karanga and leading us on to the marae, to the boys who spoke and took leads in our waiata (songs). Mr Offner did the korero (speech) for our kura (school) which was heartfelt.
The waiata sung by the whole school was outstanding. Singing a song from Ngāti Whātua meant a lot to them. Having one of our parents welcome us on was also moving, and we strengthened our partnership with our tangata whenua marae and iwi.
Throughout the week I have witnessed tuakana teina in action as the older students and younger students have worked together to support, teach and learn.
There have been a couple of parents asking about puberty talks. Historically these talks are usually done at Intermediate School, however, The Parenting Place is a great resource and place to go to.

The best thing we did with our children, was go on a big trip somewhere and listen to this in the car. A child with a parent. The track could then be stopped and started to discuss topics as they came up. Great topics. It is called the Big Weekend Away and is available now on Spotify. Covers a lot more than puberty. Covers friendships, body shapes and image, and much more.
Kia pai te ra, have a great day.
